F.A.Q.´s – Useful information about rafting and outdoor sports

How cold is the water?

The temperature depends on the season and weather conditions.  On the Ziller and the Zemm, the temperature is about 12° Celsius.

What do I wear under my Neoprene suit?

Your best choice would be a swimsuit and maybe a T-shirt.  In very cold conditions, e.g. spring canyoning, we'd also recommend wearing a thin wool or fleece sweater.

What do I do with my glasses or contact lenses?

If possible, don't bring your glasses along on the tour, or make use of a head band to hold them in place and insure they don't get lost.  Many guides with contacts simply close their eyes, but that's no guarantee.

Do I really have to be able to swim?

Basic swimming skills are absolutely essential for standard routes.

Do I have to jump when I am canyoning?

No. Simply tell your guide you'd prefer to rappel. Don't let your friends or other participants put any pressure on you.

I do have some issues with heights, but can I still come along?

As far as intros to climbing and canyoning are concerned, it shouldn't be a problem and it certainly makes sense to give it a shot.  After all, reducing our fears is something we can all work on.

Do you get wet when you raft?

Oh yes, otherwise we wouldn't be wearing Neoprene suits.

How often do the Neoprene suits and socks get washed?

After every use the gear gets cleaned with disinfectants and then rinsed off with water.  At regular intervals, all of the equipment also gets washed with a special Neoprene cleaner.

What, this thin rope is supposed to hold me?

Semi-static lines for canyoning and climbing are safe up to about 2 metric tons.

I am over 60, can I still take part?

Of course, especially as you don't necessarily have to tackle the toughest tour we offer.

Do the fish bite?

Yes, occasionally they'll nibble on little fingers.

Do rafting and canyoning tours still go on if it's raining?

Each of our customers is outfitted with high-quality gear, which makes the rain irrelevant - after all, one way or another, we ARE going to get wet.

How long do the transfers take to the various activities?

All of the tours and programs we offer (exceptions: rafting on the Inn & Ötz) are in and around Mayrhofen / Zillertal. Which means, transfers take no more than 15-20 minutes. As for those rafting tours on the rivers Inn & Ötz, the transfer takes about 75 minutes. If you prefer, you can take your own car to the starting points of these tours.
