Day 1 – Arrival in Norway & Transfer to Reisa Lodge

Individual arrival in Tromsø. Our meeting point is Tromsø Airport, where you will be personally welcomed by our team.
Together we travel in our Mountain Sports Bus towards the Reisa Lodge, passing through stunning Arctic scenery with fjords, mountains, and wide open valleys.

Upon arrival at the lodge, we check into our rooms. In the evening, we enjoy a shared dinner, get to know each other, check equipment, and discuss the plan for the upcoming days.

Days 2–7 – Guided Ski Touring in Lyngen North

Over the following days, we enjoy a variety of guided ski tours in Lyngen North. Tour selection is made daily and carefully adapted to weather, snow, and avalanche conditions, ensuring maximum safety and the best possible skiing experience.

Possible summit objectives (selection):

• Kåvringtinden (1,289 m)
  An enjoyable ski tour with wide slopes and outstanding views of fjords and surrounding peaks.

• Fastdalstinden (1,275 m)
  A varied tour with multiple ascent and descent options, suitable for different skill levels.

• Giilavárri (1,163 m)
  Beautiful lines and often excellent snow conditions – a favorite among freeride enthusiasts.

• Nordmannvikfjellet / Nordmannviktinden (approx. 1,355 m)
  An impressive ski tour featuring wide slopes and spectacular panoramic views.

• Tafeltinden (1,395 m)
  A more demanding tour for experienced ski tourers, with steeper sections and rewarding descents.

• Sorbmegáisi (1,288 m) & Store Kjostinden (1,488 m)
  High‑alpine objectives offering vast terrain and long descents; depending on conditions, these peaks may be combined.

After each tour day, we return to the Reisa Lodge, where we relax together and share the day’s experiences over dinner.

Reisa Lodge – In the Heart of Reisa National Park

Far beyond the Arctic Circle, nestled between steep mountains, deep fjords, and the vast expanse of the Finnmarksvidda, hidden high in the wild Reisa Valley and close to the mystical Reisa National Park. Or simply put: far away from the bustle of the modern world.

Our cozy Reisa Lodge serves as our base camp, offering high-quality accommodation and exceptional access to nature in one of the most untouched regions of the North.

Important Travel Information

Language

The official language in Norway is Norwegian. English is widely spoken in tourist areas, hotels and service establishments, so communication during the trip is generally straightforward.

Time Difference

Norway is in the UTC+1 time zone during winter and UTC+2 during summer. There is therefore no time difference between Norway and Central Europe, either during Central European Time (CET) or Central European Summer Time (CEST).

Personal Equipment

Before the trip, all participants will receive a detailed packing and equipment list tailored to the programme.

For ski touring in the Lyngen Alps and on Senja, a complete ski touring setup is required. This includes suitable touring skis, ski touring boots, skins, ski crampons and personal clothing suitable for winter and Arctic conditions.

For safety in the winter mountains, a complete avalanche safety kit is also essential, including an avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel. Additional equipment may be required depending on the planned tours.

Warm, windproof and waterproof clothing is particularly important, along with gloves in several layers, a warm hat, a functional layering system and reliable weather protection. Conditions in the coastal mountains can change rapidly. Wind, snowfall and low temperatures must be expected even on sunny days.

The detailed equipment list will provide information on all required gear and any additional safety equipment.

Pre-Trip Meeting

The date of the pre-trip briefing will be arranged as early as possible, and no later than once the trip has been confirmed.

Mountain Sports places great importance on professional and thorough trip preparation. The pre-trip meeting is an essential part of this process. Participants will receive all important information about the itinerary, local conditions, tour planning and the required personal equipment.

Particular attention will be given to the demands of ski touring in the Arctic coastal mountains. Weather, wind, snow conditions and avalanche risk all influence the daily tour planning and may require the programme to be adjusted.

Thorough preparation and the right equipment are essential for a successful and safe ski touring experience in Northern Norway.

Travel Documents and Entry Requirements

Norway is part of the Schengen Area. Entry requirements vary depending on nationality. Swiss citizens and citizens of many EU and EEA countries can generally enter Norway for tourist stays with a valid passport or recognised national identity card.

Different entry and visa requirements may apply to other nationalities.

Even though routine identity checks are generally not carried out at all internal Schengen borders, travellers must carry a valid travel document.

As entry requirements may change, we recommend checking the regulations applicable to your nationality before departure.

Climate

The Lyngen Alps and the island of Senja are located in Northern Norway, north of the Arctic Circle. The region is characterised by a spectacular combination of rugged mountains, deep fjords and the open North Atlantic.

Depending on snow conditions and the time of year, the ski touring season generally runs from late winter into spring. Days become considerably longer as spring progresses, although winter conditions can still prevail.

The coastal location makes the weather changeable. Wind, snowfall, fog and rapid weather changes can significantly affect touring opportunities. Conditions in the mountains are often considerably colder and more demanding than in the coastal settlements.

Spring can bring both cold, stormy days and sunny touring days with excellent snow conditions. Actual conditions depend largely on the current weather, snowpack and avalanche situation.

A flexible clothing system based on the layering principle, together with reliable windproof and waterproof outerwear, is therefore essential. Sunglasses, ski goggles and sun protection are also part of the basic equipment.

Tour planning is continually adapted to local conditions, with safety always the top priority.

Health and Vaccinations

Before travelling to Norway, routine vaccinations should be checked and updated if necessary. These include, in particular, vaccinations against tetanus and polio.

Norway has a good standard of medical care. However, in remote areas and mountainous terrain in winter, rescue operations and medical assistance may take longer than in densely populated regions.

Participants should have a good level of physical fitness, sufficient endurance and confident skiing technique in a variety of snow conditions.

Personal travel and accident insurance that covers ski touring, including search, rescue and mountain recovery costs where applicable, is strongly recommended. Please check the exact scope of your insurance cover before departure.

If you have individual health concerns or questions, we recommend seeking medical advice well in advance of the trip.

Currency and Payment Methods

The local currency is the Norwegian krone (NOK).

Cashless payments are widely used in Norway. Credit and debit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops. Nevertheless, it is advisable to have an alternative payment method available for smaller expenses or situations where card payments may not be possible.

Exchange rates and any fees for card payments or cash withdrawals may vary depending on your bank and card provider.

Electricity

The electrical supply is 230 V at 50 Hz. Norway mainly uses Type C and Type F sockets, which are common in many European countries.

Depending on the plug type, travellers from Switzerland may need a travel adapter. We recommend checking the compatibility of your chargers and electrical devices before departure.

Travel to Northern Norway

The destination includes the Lyngen Alps and the island of Senja in Northern Norway.

Travel is generally by air to Tromsø. Depending on your departure airport and available connections, one or more stopovers may be required.

From Tromsø, onward travel to the respective region is arranged by suitable transfers. Journey times depend on the accommodation, tour itinerary, road conditions and weather. Road conditions can be particularly challenging in winter.

Specific flight connections, transfers and meeting points will be detailed in the travel programme.

Organisation

Mountain Sports is responsible for the organisational planning and delivery of the advertised programme.

Ski tours are planned according to current weather conditions, snow conditions, avalanche risk and the abilities of the group. For safety reasons, daily tours and the overall programme may need to be adjusted.

Individual tours cannot be guaranteed, as conditions in the Arctic mountains can vary considerably.

The terms and conditions of Mountain Sports apply to this programme and the services included.

Registration

Early registration secures your place and greatly facilitates the organisational planning carried out by Mountain Sports.

Early registration is particularly important for trips involving flights. Late bookings may result in additional costs due to higher flight, transport or organisational expenses.

Price and Tariff Date

October 2026

The prices quoted reflect the rates applicable at the time of preparation. Due to possible changes in airfares, exchange rates, fees, fuel costs or other transport expenses, prices may change before final booking.

Minimum Number of Participants and Price Adjustments

The minimum number of participants is specified in the respective travel programme.

Changes to prices, the programme, flights and transport, as well as changes in fuel prices, fees, taxes and exchange rates, are reserved.

The General Terms and Conditions for Travel (ARB 1992) apply. In particular, reference is made to section 8.1, which governs price adjustments resulting from changes in transport costs, taxes, fees or exchange rates.

If the minimum number of participants specified in the travel programme is not reached, the trip price may be adjusted by up to 10%, no later than 21 days before departure.

Any changes to the stated surcharges, fees and taxes will be recalculated and charged or refunded at the time of final ticket issuance, based on the actual costs incurred. Changes within the last 20 days before departure will not be taken into account.

Ski bag as additional luggage | sports luggage

You will need a ski bag for all ski touring trips. This is reserved in addition to the flight ticket. The surcharge varies from € 40 - € 70 per ski bag. We will discuss all these details with you in the packing list you will receive after booking.

Is insurance included in the trip?

Our tours do not include insurance cover as most guests already have private cover. Please also check prior to the tour if your insurance covers the booked trip. We will be happy to provide you with an insurance offer for the booked period.
