Peter Habeler Trek
Peter Habeler Trek, 5 days
Hike in the footsteps of Peter Habeler as you open yourself to the total wonder of Zillertal's imposing mountain world.
This trekking tour takes us on an adventure spanning around 60 kilometers. It leads via six huts at distances of 3.5 to 13 kilometers apart, with and without summit ascents along the way. The various hikes take anywhere from 2.5 to 8 hours to complete. They range in difficulty, taking hikers out through easy terrain such as alpine pastures and gravel, paths, as well as over rocks, boulders, moraine and scree.
Whether in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction, the goal is the same: to circumnavigate the western Zillertal Alps. Available starting points include the mountain-climbing villages of Ginzling/Zillertal or St. Jodok & Schmirn (Toldern and Kasern), as well as Vals in Wipptal valley. You can also set out directly from the Brenner or Pfitschtal, from Schlegeis reservoir or from Hintertux.
All of the valley towns and villages are reachable by public transportation (rail or public bus).
Hiking a total distance of about 56 km, with gains and descents of around 4,990 vertical meters each, we will make our way to 6 different hikers' refuge huts, all located in the midst of beautiful alpine landscapes
