Ski crossing in the Ziller Valley

4 days ski touring in a class of its own - 3 nights in winter rooms - 4 distinctive peaks on the alpine main ridge

Experience an impressive ski tour crossing through the harsh winter landscape in the High Alps Nature Park. This mountain region in the eastern alps belongs to one those little developed regions in winter, with lonely high peaks, wildly rugged glaciers, and steep ridges. The winter rooms along the route are very well equipped and will serve as high camps during this demanding ski tour crossing.

Day 1:
Meeting point at Alpine School Mountain Sports to check the equipment, plan the tour, and organise the food rations. From here you set off together to Hintertux, where the glacier gondola takes you further up. The Riepensattel offers a good view of the day’s stage. A downhill run to Schlegeis reservoir lake, carrying on along the lake until a steep climb takes you to the Furtschagl hut. Descent: 1200m Ascent: 550m

Day 2:
From the winter room of the Furtschagl hut over Furtschagl glacier to Möseleköpf. After a short downhill run, you will climb the distinct Großen Möseler at 3480 metres without skis. The eastern Möseler ridge leads to the descending run along the Rossrugg and to the Berliner hut. Descent: 1680m Ascent: 1500m

Day 3:
A very beautiful ascent over the Schwarzensteinkees (glacier) to Sasso Nero at 3369 metres. The downhill  run takes you past the Schwarzenstein hut and further to the northern side of the alpine main ridge. After a short traverse and skinning up once more you reach the saddle below Tribbachspitze. Easy climbing takes you to the top of the majestic Größen Löffler at 3379 metres. A sensational downhill run follows to Greizer hut in the pleasant afternoon sun. The ascent without Großen Löffler is shorter by 550 metres. Descent: 1700m Ascent: 1800m

Day 4:
Ascent to Löffler ridge offering a spectacular view of the precipitous wall faces of Großen Löffler. Steep entrance into the wild mountain world of Löfflerkar. Skinning up at approx. 2300 metres and turning the skis towards Wollbachspitze at 3209 metres. Awesome descent through Sundergrund and over pasture paths to Gasthaus in der Au (restaurant). Descent: 2500m Ascent: 1450m Going by taxi to Mayrhofen
