Ski touring trip to Iceland
Skiing trip to Iceland - between fire and ice
In hardly any other country are extremes so close together. On Europe's 2nd largest island nation and the largest volcanic island in the world, our skiing trip is a special kind of expedition between fire and ice. A variety of glaciers and countless summits characterize this island. Our accommodations are located not far from the 4th largest city, Akueryri, with 18,103 residents right on the Eyjafjörður fjord. We will start our daily excursions from here depending on weather and conditions. In the evening, we will cook together, and with a little luck, we will also be able to see the northern lights. Of course, you also can't miss out on a visit to the hot springs, but it is the solitary, breathtaking tours in the exceptional mountains of Iceland that will leave lasting impressions.
Summits: Kaldbakur, Jökulkollar, Savdaneshnjukar
You should be an experienced ski tourer and able to ski on all types of snow. You must also be in shape and able to manage stages lasting up 8 hours and short passages with crampons.
The ascent of the ski tours includes between 700 and 1200 vertical meters. In Iceland, there is also the opportunity to combine two summits.
Day 1: We will meet at the airport in Reykjavik. We will be happy to help you find the best flight. We could maybe even start the journey together in Germany. From Reykjavik, we will take a shuttle bus to our accommodations near Akueryri consisting of a modern, detached house with several apartments and a stunning view.
Day 2-7: Depending on conditions, we will go on a ski tour or take a helicopter to one of the 600 summits in the region. If conditions don't allow this, then there are numerous exceptional opportunities for an alternative program: hot springs, city tour, Ski-Doo rides, Icelandic horses...
Day 8: A shuttle bus will take us back to the airport. From here, we will travel together or individually back to Germany or Austria.
