FAQs

How does a freeride day work?

We start at the Mountain Sports Alpine School at 08:30. Meeting up and distribution of avalanche equipment - ABS backpack, shovel, probe, avalanche transceiver. We will choose the skiing area according to the avalanche report and head off for the slopes. Your mountain guide will of course brief your safety equipment before the first descent. You ski until your feet get tired. You can take a lunch break in one of the many beautiful mountain huts. At the end of the day, you will hopefully have enjoyed many beautiful descents in untracked powder. To get the most out of the whole day, it is particularly important that you assess your skill level correctly. Freeriding Basic - Advanced - King Lines - if you are not sure what suits you - we will be happy to inform you by email or phone!

What should I bring?

If you have your own ABS backpack, avalanche transceiver equipment (is included), skis and poles, helmet. Please check prior to your tour whether your insurance includes off-piste mountain rescue. You will also receive a packing list with your booking.

Is the lift ticket included in the price?

No, you can get a valid lift pass before the meeting, or together with your mountain guide in the morning.

Is lunch included?

No, but we will have a lunch break at one of the many huts.

Do I get a discount if I bring my own equipment?

You are of course welcome to use your own equipment. Unfortunately, we cannot grant a discount as we generally provide the necessary safety equipment free of charge.

What kind of ski should I use for a freeride tour?

Freeride skis with big rockers in the tip and a flat tail are good for more control in deep powder. We recommend a width of at least 100mm below the binding. We will be happy to advise you and you can rent the right pair of skis together with your mountain guide in the morning in one of our partner shops.
